Liboi, is a Nairobi-based singer/songwriter who uses her creative ability to express the human experience, question humanity and improve the well-being of the deprived in society. Liboi is a strong proponent for social change, culture and mental awareness. She creates music that is a blend of traditional music with elements of popular African genres. Through her music, Liboi has been able to embrace diverse themes from hope, mental health, life, love, patriotism, tribalism, peace, immigration, and social ills. She has performed at many events including Action for Transparency, Unplug Fest: A Wellness and Revitalization Festival, Usawa Festival, Gaining Grip Experience, and Fete De La Musiques at Alliance Francaise Nairobi among others. She has also been in artist residencies like Look Me in The I: Co-Creation, Installation and Performance Show in Nairobi, Kenya and Into The Mirror: Co-Creation, Installation and Performance Show in Rome, Italy. Liboi has also made musical tours in Norway and Spain. She has been featured in ‘From the Margins Album’- an album by Dorphan, a Kenyan poet and ‘Art Continues Album’ – by Pawa254. Liboi’s debut EP “State of Being” premiered on November 2022. In 2023, Liboi was nominated for the Sondeka Awards in the Live Music Category. She also released her sophomore EP “SAFARI” that encompassed 6 tracks. Safari is a Swahili word meaning journey. The EP encompasses the journey an individual undergoes as they walk through life. It showcases the discovery of different cultures and uses music as a tool to communicate and eventually unite us all. She was also selected to be part of the EU- Kenya XChange Cultural Relations Platform. In this programme she was joined with other fellow artists where she received training and mentorship from various industry experts. Liboi being a climate change activist, got the opportunity to participate in the 2023 Global Fund for women in Climate Justice, Sub-Saharan Convening in Accra. She got to exchange thoughts with others with regards to climate change and how she can use her art and platform to educate others on the topic.
